Dance in the Rain

Somebody left me lonely at the table.

It was meant for two.

Gazing out the window, searching for your face,

But it’s not you.

Caught in my embarrassment

I gathered all my things

Like some mistake.

Checking all the numbers on my cell phone

Baby, it’s so late.

Refrain:

Are rivers too deep?

Are mountains too high?

Who has the answers or the reasons why?

You mean to me what I can’t explain.

Tell me why lovers dance in the rain?

Just as I was leaving you caught my eye

As you ran rushing by.

I saw you at the table.  You saw the glasses.

They were filled with wine.

I touched you on the shoulder.

I saw you wipe your eyes then turn around.

Not a word was spoken.

Your look was all it took without a sound.

Refrain:

Are rivers too deep?

Are mountains too high?

Who has the answers or the reasons why?

You mean to me what I can’t explain.

Tell me why lovers dance in the rain.
