Flying High

Late one night on a barren street,

I saw her face by the moonlight beam.

I couldn’t help but think she should have been home.

Refrain:

He said I’ll make you feel fine.

You’ll be flying high.

Take a load off your mind.

It’s only for tonight.

***

A child in the night, he cries for his mother,

She’s not there.  Is it any wonder?

All she knows, she’s got to be alone.

Refrain:

He said I’ll make you feel fine.

You’ll be flying high.

Take a load off your mind.

It’s only for tonight.

***

Morning can’t wait as the night nears dusk.

She’ll owe a debt just to feel that rush.

Hearts will break, but she may never know.

Refrain:

He said I’ll make you feel fine.

You’ll be flying high.

Take a load off your mind.

It’s only for tonight.

***

A vision in the night of a child she remembers,

Wondering as she stares through the flames and embers.

All she knows, she’s got to get home.

Final Refrain:

She said I’m gonna be fine.

I’ll walk a straight line.

I’ll take a load off my mind.

It’s been a waste of my time.
